14x07 - Home of the Brave

Liquor store

Nathan Roberts: All right, so watch your step.

Laura Roberts: Where are we?

Nathan Roberts: Oh, you are gonna love this!

Laura Roberts: Oh.

Nathan Roberts: All right. Oh, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn. Yeah, I got you.

Laura Roberts: Okay, okay.

Nathan Roberts: And, ah... Are you ready to have your mind blown by the awesomeness that is surrounding you right now? Oh.

Laura Roberts: No way! Nathan Roberts, are you recreating our first date?

Nathan Roberts: Happy Aluminum Anniversary, baby.

Laura Roberts: You are one of a kind... Thank you.

Nathan Roberts: Well, come on. We don't have a lot of time.

Laura Roberts: All right.

Nathan Roberts: All right, okay. Wait until you see what I got planned next.

Laura Roberts: Oh.

Nathan Roberts: Hello?

Laura Roberts: Let's just leave the money on the counter.

Nathan Roberts: Yeah, but I-I don't have any change. Hello? Hey, we just want to pay for the...

Laura Roberts: Oh, my God.

Victor Medina: He's dead.

----------

Anthony DiNozzo's apartment

Timothy McGee: Hello? Oh... How you girls doing? You hungry this morning?

Abigael Scuito: Wait. He called you here, too?

Timothy McGee: Hey. Yeah. What's, uh, going on?

Eleanor Bishop: No idea. He said he'd tell us everything when he got here.

Abigael Scuito: The suspense is killing me, like, literally. A fortune teller told me once that I would die of suspense, so this is dangerous.

Senior: Welcome... Beautiful people of NCIS!

Abigael Scuito: Senior!

Senior: Ah, let's go! Bring it in. Oh. It's so good to see you.

Timothy McGee: Senior!

Senior: How you been? It's been too long.

Abigael Scuito: What'd you call us all here for?

Timothy McGee: Is it about Tony? I know we've been talking about trying to visit him lately.

Senior: Well, I'm going to be joining Junior and my beautiful granddaughter for Christmas. They're having such a blast in Paris, they've decided to stay indefinitely.

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah, we heard. We're so happy for them.

Abigael Scuito: I'm still feeling a lot of suspense here.

Senior: Oh, forgive me, Abby. Uh, I, uh, asked you all to come here because I have big news. Junior has decided to lease his apartment, and he's asked me to act as his landlord. A Mr. Roper, but with class.

Eleanor Bishop: Wait. So this place is available?

Senior: Uh-huh.

Timothy McGee: How much is the rent?

Senior: Oh, it's very reasonable, but, uh, there is one catch. Uh... Fish don't, uh, travel well across the pond.

Abigael Scuito: Oh, I will be the best fish mom.

Eleanor Bishop: Uh, really, Abby? Because growing up, they called me "The Fish Whisperer."

Abigael Scuito: They did not.

Eleanor Bishop: They did.

Abigael Scuito: No, they did not.

Eleanor Bishop: They did.

Abigael Scuito: No. They did not.

Eleanor Bishop: They did.

Senior: Uh-huh.

Eleanor Bishop: They did.

Senior: I, uh... I was thinking that before I took out an ad, I'd check with the family. Are any of you interested?

Eleanor Bishop: I am.

Abigael Scuito: I am.

Timothy McGee: I am.

Senior: Wow. Any chance of you sharing the place?

Eleanor Bishop: No.

Abigael Scuito: No.

Timothy McGee: No... Excuse me. Yeah... Uh, yeah, Bishop's with me right here. All right, we're on our way... Dead sailor on Tate Street.

Abigael Scuito: Well, my work doesn't start until after the crime scene, so you and me... We could go get a Caf-POW! and talk.

Timothy McGee: Uh, Abby, Gibbs said to get your butt in the lab.

Abigael Scuito: Got to go.

Senior: Okay. I'll see you later. Uh, maybe we could reach a nice group decision?

----------

Liquor store

Timothy McGee: Come on, Bishop, you've barely been in your apartment a year.

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah, but for that rent in Dupont Circle, I would break my lease in a heartbeat.

Alexandra Quinn: I don't care how nice the apartment is. You couldn't pay me enough to pack my life up again.

Nicholas Torres: What nice apartment? I've been looking for weeks... Hey, guys, what nice apartment?

----------

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Duck and Palmer hit traffic. What do we know?

Alexandra Quinn: Victim is Seaman Troy Willis. He's 23. Worked in the security department at the Navy Yard. He lives a few blocks from here.

Timothy McGee: Got a nine-millimeter shell casing here, boss. And a footprint. It's faint, but pretty clean.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Find out who that belongs to.

Alexandra Quinn: There's a security camera, but it's pointed at the register. It's out of the range of the body, but I'm sure if we looked at it, we'll find something on the footage.

Timothy McGee: Store owner is on his way here, and once he gets here, we'll get the footage.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What?

Alexandra Quinn: What?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What are you looking at me for?

Alexandra Quinn: Nothing... What?

----------

Nicholas Torres: So you were the first one on the scene?

Sandra Cornell: Yes. Conducted a field interview. But I see your people are doing the same.

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah, but it helps to compare notes.

Sandra Cornell: Right. Armed robber entered. Seaman Willis was a customer who got shot trying to stop him.

Nicholas Torres: They remember anything about the shooter?

Sandra Cornell: Those two? No. They walked in after the incident. Everything we know came from an account given to 911.

Eleanor Bishop: Who made the call?

Sandra Cornell: An employee working the night shift. Uh, name is Victor Medina. The couple tried to stop him from leaving, but he bolted right before the EMTs showed up. The guy is M.I.A.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: They said Medina had blood on his hands. Stopped in the back office on his way out.

Sandra Cornell: Hey, door's locked. When the owner gets here, we'll have him open it.

----------

Liquor store: office

Nicholas Torres: There's blood on the shelf. Maybe where he got the towel from.

Eleanor Bishop: Medina told 911 this was a robbery gone bad.

Nicholas Torres: But then why did he clean himself and run?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: He has something to hide?

----------

NCIS: Squad room

Timothy McGee: All right, Gibbs is gonna be here any minute. We ready with the update?

Eleanor Bishop: BOLO's out on Victor Medina, and Quinn is doing general background.

Nicholas Torres: Alex Quinn.

Alexandra Quinn: What?

Timothy McGee: Quinn, you okay? You've been looking at Gibbs weird all day, and now you're looking at Gibbs' desk weird.

Alexandra Quinn: No. It's my subconscious... It cracks me up sometimes. Yeah. I-I had a-a dream about Gibbs last night.

Eleanor Bishop: Oh, I totally get it. Was it the one where he tells you to grab your gear, and then, your gear is gone?

Alexandra Quinn: No.

Timothy McGee: Wait. Is it the one where he cooks you a steak, but it's raw inside, but you eat it anyway because he's staring at you?

Alexandra Quinn: No. Not that kind of dream.

Eleanor Bishop: Oh... Oh.

Nicholas Torres: Oh. Oh.

Timothy McGee: Ooh.

Nicholas Torres: Oh, it's like sexy things were happening?

Alexandra Quinn: Yes, you could say that.

Eleanor Bishop: I need details.

Timothy McGee: I don't think I want to know.

Nicholas Torres: Oh, I want to know.

Timothy McGee: I actually do want to know very much.

Alexandra Quinn: It started so innocent. I was sitting here, I was working. He was there, and he comes over my desk, and he knocks on it like this, and says, "Do you know what kind of wood that is?"

Timothy McGee: But the desks are Formica.

Eleanor Bishop: It was a dream, Tim. Let the woman finish!

Nicholas Torres: Come on, come on. Just get to the sexy part.

Alexandra Quinn: That's when it got crazy.

----------

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Give me an update... Let's go.

Alexandra Quinn: Uh, our missing liquor store attendant is Victor Medina, 32 years old.

Nicholas Torres: Yeah, he used to be a Marine... And will always be.

Timothy McGee: Medina received a Silver Star for his actions during an ambush in Afghanistan. He also did a tour in Iraq. Honorably discharged in '06.

Eleanor Bishop: Four months later, he got into a bar fight. He was convicted of assault, sentenced to a year, served six months.

Alexandra Quinn: Stayed clean ever since.

Timothy McGee: According to Medina, our victim, Seaman Willis, was shot by a robber.

Alexandra Quinn: Medina told 911 that the shooter was wearing a mask and driving a white sports car.

Eleanor Bishop: But the blood and the weapon we found in the office, plus the fact that Medina fled the scene....

Nicholas Torres: That makes his story sound like B.S.

Eleanor Bishop: Oh.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Weapon?

Alexandra Quinn: Uh, Abby's got it, along with the slug and the casing. She's running ballistics.

Timothy McGee: Boss, Medina is a Marine, uh, victim's Navy. There could be a connection.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah, look into it.

Eleanor Bishop: BOLO paid off. Pennsylvania State Police picked up Medina at a bus station in Bedford County.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah, go. Take Torres with you.

----------

NCIS: autopsy room

Donald Mallard: To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub. For in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause.

Alexandra Quinn: Ducky?

Donald Mallard: Ah, Alex. I was just having a chat with Seaman Willis here about the significance of dreams.

Alexandra Quinn: You've heard?

James Palmer: Heard what?

Donald Mallard: Uh, Alex, uh, had an imaginative dream about our Jethro.

James Palmer: Oh. I totally get it. Is it the one where he knocks on your desk and asks what kind of wood it is?

Alexandra Quinn: How on earth did you know that?

James Palmer: Oh, come on. Look at the man. If you haven't had the wood dream about Gibbs, you are not alive, am I right?

Donald Mallard: Yeah, let's move on, shall we?

James Palmer: I already have.

Donald Mallard: Yes, well, the cause of death is a single gunshot wound that nicked his aorta. He simply bled out, and these contusions... They suggest a struggle.

James Palmer: He's also broken several ribs here.

Alexandra Quinn: Must have been one hell of a fight.

Donald Mallard: No, no, no, you-you misunderstand. These rib injuries are consistent with someone doing CPR properly. Someone struggled to keep him alive.

Alexandra Quinn: Well, Victor Medina was the only one there immediately after the shooting.

Donald Mallard: Well, if Medina was trying to save this young man's life, that would also explain how he came to have blood on his hands.

----------

NCIS: Abby's lab

Abigael Scuito: The nine-millimeter that you found is definitely the murder weapon. It's unregistered, there's no matches in the system, there's no prints. The bullet is interesting. It's Swiss-made, enhanced accuracy. Moving on.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Abbs, you okay?

Abigael Scuito: Yeah, I just want to get through this so you guys can leave.

Timothy McGee: Trying to get rid of us?

Abigael Scuito: Swiss bullet. Moving on... This is the footage from the store's security camera immediately following the shooting. It shows the activity at the counter.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: There's nothing there.

Abigael Scuito: Oh, yes, there is... There's a light that hits the counter. Once... Twice... Wait for it... Three times.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What does that tell us?

Abigael Scuito: There's a lit sign on the front door. So every time the door is opened, the light from the sign hits the counter. That door was opened three times immediately following the shooting.

Timothy McGee: Medina said there was only one robber fleeing the scene.

Abigael Scuito: Exactly. So, is he lying? Or were there more people there than he told 911? These are the kind of questions that you should be asking yourselves somewhere other than here. Oh, one more thing... I also enhanced the footprint at the crime scene.

Timothy McGee: Looks like part of a brand name.

Abigael Scuito: Yeah. It was etched in by hand. These puppies are handmade and expensive.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: You make out the name?

Abigael Scuito: No. But I will find that out. Good-bye.

----------

Senior: Abigail, here I am, as promised. Ah, McGee, what a nice surprise... Gibbs.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Ah.

Senior: How are you?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Chief, what are you doing here?

Timothy McGee: Wait a second, that's why you're trying to get rid of us... So I wouldn't see you buttering up Senior about the apartment.

Abigael Scuito: How dare you. Senior is here to help me track down this shoe brand.

Senior: I do have superior knowledge of, uh, luxury footwear.

Timothy McGee: Since when do you need help tracking down anything, Abby? I can't even look at you right now... Senior, I trust you to make the right choice.

Abigael Scuito: McGee! You've seen my apartment! It's so tiny I barely have room for my dog collars!

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Apartment thing's a minefield. How you gonna decide who gets it?

Senior: I was hoping you would have some words of wisdom.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Nope.

----------

Police Department: waiting room

Eleanor Bishop: Abby did what? Well, is it working? Okay, thanks, McGee. Yeah, keep me posted... Abby's playing dirty. But McGee's no better. He'd crawl through a sewer to get that place.

Nicholas Torres: Let me ask you a question, how does one get in on this apartment thing?

Eleanor Bishop: Look, uh, I have to tell you, um, there was a murder in that apartment. That's why Tony was able to afford it. And I know how you feel about dead bodies in potential living spaces... Nick, it was a bloodbath.

Nicholas Torres: A bloodbath, huh?

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah.

Nicholas Torres: Well, for that kind of rent in Dupont Circle, I, um... I'd get over it pretty quick.

Sandra Cornell: Agent Bishop, didn't think you were coming.

Nicholas Torres: To our own party?

Sandra Cornell: Well, state troopers made it sound like you weren't available for the transfer. So I came up from D.C. to get him. I was just headed up front to fill out the paperwork.

Eleanor Bishop: Well, we're here, and we're taking Medina into custody.

Sandra Cornell: I'll take you to him.

Eleanor Bishop: Thanks.

----------

Police Department: interview room

Victor Medina: I was stocking shelves. Guy walked in with a mask, said he wanted the money in the register. The sailor... He was right next to the guy... Wrong place, wrong time, you know?

Nicholas Torres: What happened after that?

Victor Medina: Sailor charged the guy. Before I could get to them, I heard a gunshot. The shooter ran out.

Eleanor Bishop: Surveillance shows the front door opening three times.

Victor Medina: Yeah. I went out after him. Practically laid myself on the hood of the car trying to stop him from leaving... He peeled off anyway.

Nicholas Torres: That's how you knew it was a white sports car.

Victor Medina: Yeah.

Eleanor Bishop: And after that, you went back inside?

Victor Medina: I called 911. Then this couple walked into the store, and I saw the weapon. You found it?

Eleanor Bishop: Yes.

Victor Medina: It slid under one of the shelves. I locked it in the office so no one else could get hurt.

Nicholas Torres: And then you left the scene.

Eleanor Bishop: Victor, if what you're telling us is true, what are you doing in Pennsylvania?

----------

NCIS: Squad room

Timothy McGee: Boss, just talked to Abby. She looked at photos of Victor Medina's shoes. None of 'em match our footprint.

Alexandra Quinn: Yeah, different size, different tread.

Timothy McGee: And we had a witness from across the street from the liquor store come forward. They saw the robber arrive and leave, wearing a mask, just like Victor Medina said.

Alexandra Quinn: Yeah, his story checks out. Medina's telling the truth.

----------

Baldwin: Special Agent Gibbs.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah.

Baldwin: Officer Baldwin. Immigration. You issued a BOLO for Victor Medina.

Timothy McGee: He's a witness to a murder, yeah.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Our murder. What do you want with him?

Baldwin: I'm the reason he's running. As a witness to your murder, he knew that you would dig into his background, turn up his secret.

Alexandra Quinn: What secret?

Baldwin: Victor Medina has squandered his right to be in this country. I'm here to deport him.

----------

NCIS: briefing room

Baldwin: Victor Medina was born in Mexico. One year later, his parents moved the family here, legally. Father passed away. Mother continues to live here on a green card.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Medina needed a green card to join the Marines.

Baldwin: Well, he had one. But, 2006, he got out of the corps, committed a crime, became deportable.

Alexandra Quinn: For getting in a bar fight?

Baldwin: Federal immigration law, ma'am. One-year sentence made his conviction an aggravated felony.

Alexandra Quinn: Well, then tell me, sir, why didn't you deport him then?

Baldwin: Government agencies don't always communicate as effectively as we'd like. Your BOLO put him back on our radar.

Alexandra Quinn: Tell you what, this makes zero sense. Kid signs up to protect this country but doesn't apply for citizenship?

Baldwin: Well, back when Medina joined, a lot of guys thought citizenship was automatic once they took their oath of enlistment. These days, the military makes a point of encouraging them to apply, but...

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Cases fall through the cracks. Because nobody is perfect, right?

Alexandra Quinn: Officer Baldwin, we've cleared Medina of this murder. He was on the ground in Afghanistan in a United States uniform, for God's sake.

Baldwin: Look, I'm doing my job, just like you. As soon as he gets here, I'll need you to transfer custody.

Alexandra Quinn: Is there nothing we can do?

----------

Car

Eleanor Bishop: Got it, boss. Yep. On it.

Nicholas Torres: What'd he say?

Victor Medina: Excuse me. Did the cops give you my stuff? Personal effects?

Nicholas Torres: Yeah, we got 'em.

Victor Medina: Can I get my compass back?

Nicholas Torres: No. We got to turn everything over to Immigration when they take custody.

Eleanor Bishop: Hmm. Compass looks old.

Victor Medina: It was my dad's. Feels weird not having it in my pocket... Damn.

Eleanor Bishop: What's wrong?

Victor Medina: It's not pointing north. Cops must've dropped it or something.

Eleanor Bishop: I have a friend. She could probably fix it for you.

Victor Medina: Thanks.

Eleanor Bishop: So, cops said you were headed to Ohio. Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Victor Medina: My mom lives outside of Youngstown. I knew how this was gonna end. Just wanted to say good-bye.

Eleanor Bishop: Nick, turn the car around.

Nicholas Torres: What?

Eleanor Bishop: The man needs to see his mom.

Nicholas Torres: Are you crazy? That'll take all night.

Eleanor Bishop: Gibbs told us to take our time and do some good. That's why he called.

Nicholas Torres: I am not going to Ohio.

Eleanor Bishop: Well, darn it. Really sucks for you, because I just got the urge to sing.

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain when she comes

Nicholas Torres: Okay, you promised you weren't gonna sing in the car anymore.

Eleanor Bishop: I'm not stopping until you turn the car around.

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain when she comes

Eleanor Bishop: Come on, Victor.

Victor Medina & Eleanor Bishop:

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain

Nicholas Torres: Really?

Victor Medina & Eleanor Bishop:

She'll be comin' 'round

Nicholas Torres: Now both of you are singing.

Victor Medina & Eleanor Bishop:

The mountain when she comes

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain when she comes

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain, she'll be comin'

'Round the mountain...

Nicholas Torres: All right, all right, all right! All right, I'm turning around. I'm doing it. Just stop singing.

----------

Anthony DiNozzo's apartment

Timothy McGee: All right, got it.

Senior: You know, um, Tim, until we come to a group decision, I don't know if it's right for you to be in here.

Timothy McGee: I'm just getting some specs for Delilah and I in case we're lucky enough to get the place.

Senior: We've got to get this group meeting on the books.

Timothy McGee: You know, Mr. DiNozzo, I was gonna tell you, I don't think anyone is gonna willingly give this place up. Think you're gonna have to make a decision... Which reminds me, there's something I wanted to tell you about.

Senior: Oh. What is it?

Timothy McGee: I finally proposed to Delilah.

Senior: Oh. You did?

Timothy McGee: I did. It was... It was epic. It was amazing, you know? My-my beautiful girlfriend is now my beautiful fiancée.

Senior: Oh.

Timothy McGee: Let me show you this, too.

Senior: Oh. I'm-I'm over the moon for you, Tim... Aw. This album is wonderful.

Timothy McGee: Kind of a photographic journey of our love story. It's a story that I think could really... Really bloom in this apartment... What are you doing?

Senior: Changing the subject... Cassano. That's the brand of shoe that made your bloody footprint.

Timothy McGee: How do you know this?

Senior: I confirmed it with my shoe broker. Cassanos are rare, Italian, and handmade. Everything a man could want on his feet.

Timothy McGee: All right, well, I'll get that to Abby. And I am just gonna leave this right here. In case you want to take a peek at that for any reason.

----------

NCIS: Abby's lab

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Abbs, what are you doing?

Abigael Scuito: I'm getting a neodymium magnet for repolarization.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: For the what?

Abigael Scuito: Um, this is an old PC hard drive. And inside of it is a very strong magnet called a rare-earth magnet... When Victor gets back, I'm gonna get his compass from him, and I'm gonna use this to fix it. That is, before ICE swoops in and takes him away like some angry pelican.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Ah, speak of the devil.

Abigael Scuito: Well, I'm glad you ignored that because we have things to talk about... Victor isn't the only decorated veteran to face deportation... This is Hector Barajas. He's an Army vet that was deported in 2004. He started a support house for other deported veterans in Tijuana.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah, called the Bunker.

Abigael Scuito: You know about it?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah, I know about it.

Abigael Scuito: Gibbs, some of these deportable crimes, they're so minor. And these guys are not even offered an immigration attorney.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: And they have lives and families, Abbs, and children here... I'm agreeing with you.

Abigael Scuito: Yeah... Okay, this is really sad. Let's talk footwear. Thanks to Senior, we know that this brand of shoe is called Cassano.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: I've never heard of that.

Abigael Scuito: It's a rare breed. It's only sold in two shops in the area. So I cross-referenced people who bought Cassanos with people who own white sports cars, and...

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: And you got a list of suspects.

Abigael Scuito: Yep. Three, to be exact. I'll send them to you.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Great work, Abbs. Get them to Quinn and McGee.

----------

The Medina's garden

Mrs Medina: Mijo. I can't believe you're here! Look at you.

Victor Medina: Hi, Ma. Why didn't you come?

Nicholas Torres: We shouldn't stay long.

Eleanor Bishop: I told you: Gibbs told us to take our time and do some good.

Nicholas Torres: So, what, give him, like, ten, 15 minutes to say good-bye?

Eleanor Bishop: That's real compassionate, Nick.

Nicholas Torres: Well, we still have a case to solve back home.

----------

The Medina's house: kitchen

Mrs Medina: Come in, come in.

Victor Medina: Listen, Ma, I need to talk to you about something.

Mrs Medina: Don't be rude, mijo. Introduce me to your friends.

Victor Medina: Ma... There's something I got to tell you... I'm going away for a while.

Mrs Medina: What? Victor, why?

Victor Medina: I, uh...

Nicholas Torres: He's deploying, ma'am.

Mrs Medina: Deploying? I thought you were out of the Marines.

Victor Medina: I, uh... I was. They, uh...

Nicholas Torres: It's an advisory position, uh... And your son is very good at his job. We need him... I'm Torres. I'm one of his recruiters. And this is my colleague, Bishop.

Mrs Medina: Where will you be taking him? Is it dangerous again?

Eleanor Bishop: It's classified, ma'am.

Mrs Medina: When will you be home?

Victor Medina: I don't know, Ma.

Mrs Medina: My son... The brave Marine... Let me feed you before you go. Are you hungry?

Eleanor Bishop: Actually, Mrs. Medina, we have to...

Nicholas Torres: We're starving.

----------

The Conway's house: parking

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Nice house.

Alexandra Quinn: Ooh. Yeah. A palace of a luxury realtor.

----------

The Conway's house: porch

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Quinn.

Alexandra Quinn: Hmm?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What the hell is wrong with you?

Alexandra Quinn: What? Nothing.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: McGee could use some help running down those other two suspects.

Alexandra Quinn: NCIS. We're here to speak to Phillip Conway.

Brandon Conway: Well. Hello, Agent Mrs. Robinson.

Alexandra Quinn: Oh, just go get your father.

----------

The Conway's house: living room

Phillip Conway: I know the shoes you're talking about. Ill-fitting. I threw those out... Must have been a year ago.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: We're gonna need to see your car.

Phillip Conway: The white sports car, yes, yes. But like I said, I was hosting a broker's open that night. Now, about that Swiss 9mm ammo you asked about... I can't say for sure if I have it, because I don't keep a detailed inventory.

Alexandra Quinn: An inventory?

Phillip Conway: I'm a collector.

----------

The Conway's house: weapon room

Phillip Conway: All the drawers, cabinets you see are filled with ammunition.

Alexandra Quinn: Whoa. Well, you really were not kidding.

Phillip Conway: You know, I would like to apologize to you for the way my son looked at you when you walked in. I think he's got a bit of a crush.

Alexandra Quinn: Oh... Uh, yeah, uh, well, if you can just get us the, uh, names of the brokers that might have seen you at that open house.

Phillip Conway: Of course.

Alexandra Quinn: Thank you. Okay. Can we hurry up? Rich people creep me out.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Do you know what kind of wood this is?

Alexandra Quinn: What?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Do you know what kind of wood this is? It's oak.

Alexandra Quinn: Oh.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Quinn, I said it was oak.

Alexandra Quinn: Yeah, it's oak... You were right, McGee needs me. He needs m... So, you stay here. And I'm gonna go work with McGee.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What'd I say?

----------

Street

Alexandra Quinn: McGee.

Timothy McGee: Hey, I thought you were with Gibbs.

Alexandra Quinn: No. He started knocking on some wood and I had to get out of there. This is becoming distracting.

Timothy McGee: What are you gonna do?

Alexandra Quinn: I don't know. Maybe I'll ask him to eat some bologna with a fork. My ex-boyfriend used to do that. Instant turn-off. Is this the place?

Timothy McGee: Yeah. Hard to believe a guy with fancy shoes and a sports car lives here. You know what, I think that's him. Arthur Jankowski? NCIS. We need to speak with you.

Alexandra Quinn: Whoa, stop!

Timothy McGee: He's not that fast. We got him.

Alexandra Quinn: Oh, no, we don't got him.

----------

NCIS: Squad room

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Okay, what do we got?

Timothy McGee: Well, boss, escapee is Arthur Jankowski. Thought we had him, but we were not prepared for the rocket ship with wheels around the corner.

Alexandra Quinn: Guy's a convicted identity thief, but apparently three years in prison didn't scare him straight.

Timothy McGee: His latest victim is quite the score. World-renowned author Mason Moffett. Boss, this guy writes the most amazing horror books. I swear, I read Headstone Highway and I did not sleep right for a month.

Alexandra Quinn: Jankowski stole Moffett's identity and started diverting his royalty checks into hidden accounts.

Timothy McGee: We searched Jankowski's place. He's definitely enjoying Moffett's money. Lot of high-end items.

Alexandra Quinn: Like a laptop, and Abby's going through it now.

Timothy McGee: No Cassano shoes, but there's a good chance that he's wearing 'em.

Alexandra Quinn: So, and, uh, what about you? Did you find anything in the rich guy's gun room?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: No Swiss ammo. And I searched those cabinets and drawers. By myself.

Alexandra Quinn: Oh.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: And his alibi... It checks.

Timothy McGee: W... Uh, suspect number three, boss. Number three, suspect number three... Howard Lane. He is a hedge fund manager whose Cassanos were never worn. And he's got an airtight alibi for the night of the shooting. Which brings us back to...

Alexandra Quinn: Jankowski. I like him for this.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Well, good. Then find him.

Alexandra Quinn: Uh-huh.

----------

Baldwin: Agent Gibbs.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: We have phones, you know.

Baldwin: Well, none of your people seem to hear them ring. Where's Medina?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Not back yet.

Baldwin: I spoke to an Officer Cornell over at Metro. She said your people picked him up in Bedford County yesterday afternoon.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Car trouble.

Baldwin: The hell you trying to pull?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: When Medina gets back here, you will be the first to know... We good?

Baldwin: Yeah.

----------

The Medina's house: kitchen

Mrs Medina: No, no, no, my favorite thing in the world is cooking for people who eat.

Eleanor Bishop: Well, that will go down as one of the best meals of my life.

Victor Medina: Yeah, Ma, thank you.

Mrs Medina: No, no, wait, wait, I will go write down the recipe for you.

Eleanor Bishop: That would literally make my year.

Nicholas Torres: Yeah, the most my mom ever cooked was a bowl of cereal, so, uh, this was... This was quite a treat.

Victor Medina: She's gonna ask us to stay for coffee when she comes back.

Eleanor Bishop: I wish we could.

Nicholas Torres: But one cup of coffee never killed nobody.

Victor Medina: No, no, I... I get it. You guys have been so good to me. I just... I want you to know something... When I got in trouble... That bar fight... The guy was drunk. He was yelling at his girlfriend, getting in her face. It wasn't right. I pulled him away... And it went from there. Afterwards, they lied... Both of 'em. Said that I attacked him out of nowhere. It was their word against mine... I know I got myself in trouble. But... I had a reason.

Eleanor Bishop: Victor, there are a lot of people who think what you're facing isn't right. Us included.

Victor Medina: I haven't been to Mexico since I was a baby... Hell, I don't even speak Spanish... What am I gonna do?

Nicholas Torres: Hey, man... Take your time with your mom. All right?

Victor Medina: I need to tell her the truth... Ma?

----------

NCIS: Abby's lab

Abigael Scuito: "Why I Should Get the Apartment, an essay by Eleanor Bishop."

Senior: She e-mailed me that from the road. You know, I really care about the three of you so deeply. So equally.

Abigael Scuito: Well, I admit that it is well-written, but I totally disagree with her thesis statement.

Senior: Abby, my love, I came here to tell you that I've decided to draw a name... It's the only fair way.

Abigael Scuito: Oh, my God. I'm so... Lucky. I love drawings. I could-I could find a hat.

Senior: No, no, it's, uh... No need. I've already recruited an impartial name drawer.

James Palmer: Oh, my gosh. Okay, so, Dr. Mallard has rules about not using his hat for nonsense. And I feel like this could be on the cusp, so we better do this quickly. I'm gonna write down the names.

Abigael Scuito: Seriously, I can't remember when I've entered a raffle and I didn't win a prize. This is awesome.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Abbs. You working, you hosting a party?

Abigael Scuito: I am waiting for a ding. So, McGee and Quinn were able to pinpoint the exact time and location when Jankowski sped off.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Followed him with traffic cams.

Abigael Scuito: Yeah. Um, I lost him after these shots, but I input his plate and his car stats into a program that's accessing the live feed from cameras within...

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: I got it, Abbs. You're waiting for a ding.

Abigael Scuito: Exactly. So, this is Jankowski's laptop... Not only did he steal a famous author's identity, he wanted to be said author. I-I found all kinds of really bad prose and I made you a few copies of his memoir.

Senior: Gibbs... I have to tell you, I met your new agent, Quinn, on my way in. Put a sparkle in my day.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: I'll bet.

Abigael Scuito: My ding. Okay, got him. Jankowski is outside the Moonbrite Motel on Wells Avenue in D.C.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Thanks, Abbs.

James Palmer: All right. The winner of the best apartment of anyone we know is... Torres.

Abigael Scuito: What?!

Senior: Who the heck is Torres?

----------

NCIS: interview room

Arthur Jankowski: Look, I'm sorry that I ran from you guys. But do I look like the kind of person that would shoot someone? No. No, I don't. You want to know where I was when it happened? I'll tell you, I was home alone... Brainstorming.

Alexandra Quinn: That is the worst alibi ever.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: You get to page 14 yet?

Arthur Jankowski: Oh, come on, man. Haven't you ever heard of a first draft? It's not ready for public consumption. You're supposed to ask permission before you just read someone's memoir.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: You won't talk, how else are we gonna get to know you?

Alexandra Quinn: Well, we do know something about him. I mean, it's supposed to be a memoir, it's supposed to be non-fiction. Half this stuff is B.S.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: "Shielding that child from the bear's fangs was, dot, dot, dot, what anyone would've done."

Alexandra Quinn: Did you just read an ellipsis out loud?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: He wrote it.

Alexandra Quinn: You're not supposed to verbalize it.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Quinn?

----------

NCIS: hallway

Timothy McGee: Gibbs.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Quinn is driving me nuts. She's staring, she left a search, now she's in there talking about dots.

Timothy McGee: Well, actually...

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: McGee, what do you want?

Timothy McGee: Abby finished processing Jankowski's shoes. They are Cassanos, but the wear pattern on the bottom does not match our footprint.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Not our guy.

Timothy McGee: Not our guy.

----------

Diner

Eleanor Bishop: Hey. This place is amazing. The bathroom smells like blueberry pie. You ready?

Nicholas Torres: Yeah, in a minute. We just ordered some coffee for, uh, for the road.

Eleanor Bishop: Oh. Uh, can you get me a corn dog, too?

Nicholas Torres: Oh, hell, yeah.

Eleanor Bishop: Wow. I appreciate the support.

Nicholas Torres: No. I just got a text from Jimmy. I got the apartment.

Eleanor Bishop: What?

Victor Medina: Congrats, man.

Nicholas Torres: Hey, thanks, man. We got to celebrate. You know, stop for a beer?

Victor Medina: I'm thinking up a toast right now.

Nicholas Torres: Let's do it.

Eleanor Bishop: Uh...

Victor Medina: My mom again. Do you mind?

Nicholas Torres: Go for it.

Nicholas Torres: Hey, Mom.

Eleanor Bishop: Um... What are you doing?

Nicholas Torres: Uh, Jimmy had a drawing so I put my name down.

Eleanor Bishop: No, I'm not talking about the apartment.

Nicholas Torres: Oh, I'm not gonna drink. I just, I just thought it would be nice to buy him a cold one before they toss him over the border.

Eleanor Bishop: He shouldn't even have his phone. Why did you give it back to him?

Nicholas Torres: He asked for it.

Eleanor Bishop: I don't get it. I could barely get you to turn the car around, and now...

Nicholas Torres: And now I care?

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah.

Nicholas Torres: Bishop, this is exactly why I didn't want to turn the car around. I got to know him, I... I looked in his mother's face... I have friends like him... I have family like him... I could have been him.

Eleanor Bishop: Look. We did a good thing for him, and now it's time for us to do our jobs.

Nicholas Torres: I don't want to be the one to turn him over.

Eleanor Bishop: Nick...

Nicholas Torres: Gun! Get down, get down. Move, move!

----------

Parking

Nicholas Torres: Stop!

Carl Dixon: Damn it.

----------

Eleanor Bishop: Stay inside, stay back.

----------

Eleanor Bishop: NCIS!

Gunshot

----------

NCIS: autopsy room

Donald Mallard: A skillful shot indeed from young Eleanor. Dead center of the heart. She and Torres make quite a team.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: What do we know about this guy, Ducky?

James Palmer: His name is Carl Dixon. He's a professional hit man with a rap sheet about a mile long. He located Victor by tracking down his cell phone... I go all that from McGee. I was hovering.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: If he's a hit man, who hired him?

James Palmer: That's what they're trying to figure out upstairs.

Abigael Scuito: Gibbs. I called you.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Abbs, I was on my way.

Abigael Scuito: Well, I can't wait. So, I was starting to fix Victor's compass with my magnet, and this giant light bulb went off in my head... So, Victor thought that his compass was broken at the police station, so I checked. And the cops said that it was just sitting in an evidence bin the whole time, and never came anywhere near a magnetic field.

Donald Mallard: Then why isn't it pointing north?

Abigael Scuito: Because... Before that, it did come in contact with rare-earth magnets, like mine, only way bigger. The kind used in electric car motors.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Victor leaned over the car and stopped the shooter from leaving.

Abigael Scuito: Yep. And when he did, his compass was depolarized. Now, Gibbs, there's only one of our three suspects that has a white sports car that's an electric prototype with rare-earth magnets in it.

James Palmer: Who is it?

----------

NCIS: interview room

Phillip Conway: I already told you I was hosting a broker's open. Didn't you speak to any of the people on the list I gave you?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Yeah. Your alibi is solid.

Phillip Conway: Then why are you wasting my time?

Eleanor Bishop: Mr. Conway, how would you categorize your son?

Phillip Conway: Excuse me?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: You pulled a lot of expensive strings to make his record go away.

Eleanor Bishop: I would categorize your son as a bored rich kid, destroying property for kicks... Only this time, he got bolder.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Bored rich kid robbing a liquor store.

Eleanor Bishop: He probably didn't mean to kill anyone, but things got a little out of hand, and he knew his dad would clean up after him.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Same as always.

Eleanor Bishop: But you were smart. You got rid of the shoes he was wearing. Got rid of the ammo he used.

Phillip Conway: That's a great story. It's not true.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Name Carl Dixon ring a bell?

Eleanor Bishop: No? 'Cause he's the hit man you hired to take out the only witness to the murder.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Carol Dixon's dead.

Eleanor Bishop: We're tracking a payment deposited into his account.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: And we're pretty sure it's gonna lead right back to you.

----------

The Conways's house: entrance

Brandon Conway: You can't do this, I want my phone call.

Timothy McGee: I don't think your dad's gonna be able to pick up.

Brandon Conway: Well, just don't leave my stuff in the driveway. The bags alone are worth more than you two combined.

Alexandra Quinn: You got a lot bigger problems than luggage, kid.

Timothy McGee: You know, speaking of big problems, I think Gibbs knows that something's up with you.

Alexandra Quinn: It doesn't matter, I'm over it.

Timothy McGee: Yeah?

Alexandra Quinn: Yes. He read an ellipsis out loud. "Dot, dot, dot." It's almost as good as eating bologna with a fork.

Timothy McGee: He read the dot, dot, dot out loud?

Alexandra Quinn: He read it out loud. I mean, my Uncle Larry used to do that. And now, when I see Gibbs, all I see is Uncle Larry. So, thank God.

Timothy McGee: Well done.

----------

NCIS: Briefing room

Victor Medina: Tell your friend thanks for fixing it, will you?

Eleanor Bishop: Yeah, I will.

Victor Medina: My mom, she told me to never take this country for granted. She said it all the time. She said, "Home is a privilege." That's how I always saw it. That's how I still see it.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Victor.

Nicholas Torres: Special Agent Gibbs.

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: I got a lawyer friend. I don't know if keeping you home is a battle we can win, but I'd like to help you fight it.

Victor Medina: These guys told me a lot about you on the trip here, sir... They were right.

Baldwin: You ready?

Leroy Jehtro Gibbs: Hey, Marine... Semper Fi.

Victor Medina: Semper Fi.

----------

Anthony DiNozzo's apartment

Nicholas Torres: Yeah, it's open.

Timothy McGee: Hey.

Nicholas Torres: Hey, just the man I wanted to see.

Timothy McGee: Hope you don't mind me dropping by like this. Uh, I left that book for, uh, Senior. Well, you know, it's kind of embarrassing.

Nicholas Torres: Well, not as embarrassing as the apartment essay that Bishop wrote.

Timothy McGee: Oh, really?

Nicholas Torres: Yeah.

Timothy McGee: No, the book actually turned out quite nice.

Nicholas Torres: Not bad at all.

Timothy McGee: Thanks. I was gonna go home and, uh, show it to Delilah tonight, you know? Also, if, uh, you need any help with the surround sound wiring, glad to do that, help you out here... I actually love doing that stuff, so.

Nicholas Torres: Oh... Hey, um... You know, um... When I joined this team... I thought, finally I'm going to be a real good guy. You know, nobody really sees me like that. But I actually like... I like doing what's right... So...

Timothy McGee: What are you doing?

Nicholas Torres: Home is a privilege. And, uh, I'm not ready for it yet... But you are.
