6x07 – Collateral Damage
Quantico: Bank
Eddie Banasek: So I tell this guy there are three rules for married men.
Ray Vittorio: Just three?
Eddie Banasek: Yeah. One: pretend to listen, even when you're not. Two: pretend to care, even when you don't. And three: pretend to be generous with the things that you don't care about. I tell this guy,"Do you want to have a happy marriage? You stick to those rules, no matter what."
Ray Vittorio: How is your ex-wife, Eddie?
Eddie Banasek: She's pretending to hate my guts.
----------
Jenny Page: Come on! Tommy, hold on. Tommy, careful! Not so fast. Oh, I'm so sorry. I... I said, be careful.
Tommy Page:Sorry, Mister.
Ray Vittorio: It's okay, kid.
Jenny Page: I'm sorry.
Ray Vittorio: Ma'am.
Jenny Page: Tommy, I told you to slow down. I need you to be more careful.
Tommy Page: I'm sorry.
----------
I said, stay down! Don't move!
Gunshot
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Anthony DiNozzo: I am very impressed. Gymnastics?
Recruite: Yeah. For years.
Anthony DiNozzo: Where?
Recruite: In Japan, Germany, all across the country.
Anthony DiNozzo: Really?
Recruite: Yup.
Anthony DiNozzo: I've traveled extensively, too.
----------
Timothy McGee: Tony's still hitting on the new recruits, huh?
Ziva David: Ignorant, hopeful and eager to please.
Timothy McGee: Yeah. What recruit isn't?
Ziva David: I was not talking about the recruit.
Anthony DiNozzo: Sounds great. Gymnastics... What?
Timothy McGee: You know, there are rules about harassment, Tony.
Anthony DiNozzo: Well, then, maybe I should keep the number that she just gave me in case I want to file a claim?
Ziva David: You are fortunate recruits are not allowed to carry guns, Tony.
Anthony DiNozzo: I don't know if you've noticed, Ziva, but she and they don't exactly want to shoot me.
Ziva David: Give 'em time.
Timothy McGee: Look, one more week, they're out of our hair and off to FLETC for three months. Why don't you let them focus on learning how to be an NCIS agent?
Anthony DiNozzo: Well, you see, since Team Gibbs was not assigned a recruit, I am just doing my best to teach and inspire where I can, when I can, McKilljoy.
Ziva David: It is curious we were not assigned any recruit.
Anthony DiNozzo: It's the one-probie rule, and we've got ours.
Timothy McGee: Well, I, for one, feel that we dodged a bullet. We don't want to let some newbie get in our way, you know?
Ziva David: I heard rumors that Gibbs refuses to take one.
Anthony DiNozzo: Wrong. They won't give him one. Think about it. You take a date back to your family's house, you want to make a good impression, you want them to like you. You don't introduce them to your weird Uncle Jethro until, like, the fifth date.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Since when you an expert on fifth dates, DiNozzo?
Anthony DiNozzo: You're very right about that, boss.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Bank guard shot dead in Quantico.
Timothy McGee: Quantico?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Yeah, you heard right, McGee. Let's go.
Recruite: Bye, Tony.
----------
Street
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: There you go. Appreciate it, Tommy.
Jenny Page: Thank you, Agent Gibbs.
----------
Quantico: Bank
Ziva David: Ray Vittorio, bank guard.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Weapon is still holstered.
Timothy McGee: Never gave him a chance.
Ziva David: To shoot?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Surrender.
Donald Mallard: It's no mystery what killed him. You know, when I was younger, I used to take solace when the victim was elderly. I thought, well,at least he's had a full life, but now that I am older, I don't get the same solace.
Anthony DiNozzo: Apparently, no one actually saw the guard get shot. They all had their faces buried in the carpet. Bank manager saw him walk into the bathroom before the robbery.
Ziva David: Steps back out, and, bam, falls here.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: How much they take?
Paul Harris: This branch just received a money delivery. Paul Harris, corporate security. They took $27,000. Could have been worse.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Not for him.
Paul Harris: Sorry. Of course. I didn't mean that.
Anthony DiNozzo: This bank ever been hit before?
Paul Harris: No, no. Never. This is Quantico. I mean, come on. It's a freaking Marine base that houses the FBI Academy.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Security cameras?
Paul Harris: I'll get the footage to your office right away.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Ziva, DiNozzo, witness statements.
Anthony DiNozzo: On it, boss.
----------
Quantico: Street
Grace Penland: I thought they were going to kill us all. I mean, they train us for this,but...
----------
George Linden: Two guys. Ski masks, automatic weapons. Maybe Glocks, sir. They were barking orders. All business.
----------
James Meyers: Definitely three of them. Big guys.
Ziva David: Guns?
James Meyers: Big guns.
----------
Jenny Page: I only saw one. There could have been more.
----------
Ziva David: Car?
James Meyers: Dark sedan?
----------
Grace Penland: I think it was a pickup. It was a red pickup... Or orange, maybe.
----------
George Linden: It was a white SUV. I got a good look at it.
----------
Tommy Page: You ever shoot anybody, Mister?
----------
Donald Mallard: Thanks, Jethro.
Anthony DiNozzo: Best guess... Two bad guys in the bank, a third one driving, boss.
Ziva David: Possibly a white SUV. I put out a BOLO.
Anthony DiNozzo: There's two gates leading in and out of Quantico. Both of them were closed down within minutes of the robbery.
Ziva David: Not enough time to make it out.
Timothy McGee: What kind of idiots rob a bank with thousands of Marines and half the FBI around?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Yeah. Gibbs.
Marine: White Chevy Suburban.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Where?
Marine: Main gate.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: White Chevy Suburban, east of the main gate, perimeter road. You two, go.
----------
Quantico: Main gate
Anthony DiNozzo: The suspects may be on the move.
Timothy McGee: Getaway car didn't leave the base.
Anthony DiNozzo: Not idiots.
Timothy McGee: Pros.
----------
NCIS: Lounge room
Ziva David: I do not understand. If witnesses do not get a good look at something, why do they talk out of their ass?
Timothy McGee: Talking out of one's ass. That would be your area of expertise, Tony. I'm gonna let you answer that query.
Anthony DiNozzo: Well, the general public is about as observant as your average probie or new recruit. I'm a trained eye. I know every inch of my environment.
Timothy McGee: Is that a fact?
Anthony DiNozzo: That's a fact... Jack... What do we know? Bank robbery occurred moments after an armored car delivery. What does that suggest?
Timothy McGee: Perfect timing.
Anthony DiNozzo: A little too perfect. Denzel Washington, Clive Owen. Inside man did an inside job... Director Vance, I was just...
Leon Vance: Explaining your theory of theft in the workplace, which is certainly an epidemic.
Anthony DiNozzo: And very wrong.
Leon Vance: This is Agent Dwayne Wilson, one of the new recruits. He was assigned to the fraud unit for his two-week visit, but he's a former Marine stationed at Quantico. Thought he might be helpful. So I've temporarily reassigned him to your team.
Timothy McGee: That's great.
Anthony DiNozzo: Welcome aboard.
Dwayne Wilson: Thanks.
Leon Vance: Thank you.
Ziva David: So, Dwayne, have you been briefed on this case?
Dwayne Wilson: Director Vance gave me some of the particulars.
Timothy McGee: And you heard Tony's inside-job theory.
Ziva David: The problem with Tony's theory is they only got $27,000. It seems like a lot of effort for such a little reward.
Anthony DiNozzo: Maybe that's as much as the bank holds in cash. Did you think to ask?
Ziva David: Did you?
Anthony DiNozzo: Did you?
Ziva David: You?
Dwayne Wilson: If they waited three days, it would have made a big difference. Holiday weekend for the base. Lot of Marines withdraw cash for a weekend getaway. We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Timothy McGee: Well, you'd think an insider would've known that.
Anthony DiNozzo: Dwayne, crime scene photos. Abby's lab. Go. Now!
Dwayne Wilson: Yes, sir... Where is Abby's lab?
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Timothy McGee: Oh, boss, got the security footage of the bank robbery.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Put it up.
Timothy McGee: You're looking at it.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What? That's it?
Timothy McGee: Digital artifacts. I've tried to reconstruct the image, but it's too far gone. Watch... Starts here... Ends here... They were extremely fast. Knew how to disable the cameras, were in and out of the bank in 93 seconds.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Fix it, McGee.
Timothy McGee: I can't. It's gone.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What... What do you mean, it's gone?
Timothy McGee: The bank uses cameras that transmit their signals through a computer network to a central security company. I searched through access logs. I searched through keystroke logs... No one accessed the security system at the time it went down.
Ziva David: Owner of the getaway car was a 64-year-old secretary by the name of Patsy Kipp. She reported the SUV stolen five days ago.
Timothy McGee: Long time to hang on to a stolen car.
Anthony DiNozzo: I'm thinking this isnot an inside job, boss. If these guys had waited another three days, they would've gotten away with the big weekend cash delivery... Over 600 grand.
Timothy McGee: Oh, gee, where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah, Dwayne.
Ziva David: Come on, Tony. Grabbing credit from a recruit?
Anthony DiNozzo: I followed up and checked with the branch manager. That's what an experienced special agent does.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Dwayne?
Timothy McGee: Agent Dwayne Wilson... The new recruit the director assigned to us, to you... You didn't know? You didn't know.
----------
NCIS: Director's office
Leon Vance: Gibbs.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I just found out I've been assigned a rookie.
Leon Vance: Only for a few days.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I don't need him.
Leon Vance: You need all the help you can get... A bank robbery in Quantico is highly embarrassing. If we can't protect our own house, how can we protect the nation? FBI wants to take over. I asserted that Quantico is first and foremost a Marine base and, as such, falls under our jurisdiction. SECNAV backed me. That argument is holding for now, but I'm going to need a quick resolution.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I prefer to choose my own team.
Leon Vance: Just like you chose Special Agent Langer? That didn't work out very well, did it?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Want to hear me say I made a mistake about Langer?
Leon Vance: Lot of people made a mistake about him. It's history.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Is it, Leon?
Leon Vance: Let me know what you think about the rookie.
----------
NCIS: Abby's lab
Abigael Scuito: So Major Mass Spec, or Big Daddy, like he sometimes likes to be called, analyzes solids, liquids, vapors, and solutions, and then an ionizer converts these substances into a gaseous state. Then the ions... They're sorted according to their m/z ratio. Hey, no touching.
Dwayne Wilson: Sorry.
Abigael Scuito: This is from the getaway car. Are you following all this, Dwayne?
Dwayne Wilson: We give you evidence and you tell us what it is.
Abigael Scuito: Yeah, I guess that's basically it. Hey, Gibbs. I was just giving Agent Wilson a tour of Abbyville.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: You're Dwayne.
Dwayne Wilson: Yes, sir.
Abigael Scuito: You two haven't met? Awkward.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What have you got, Abs?
Abigael Scuito: Lots of burned out ash from the SUV. Ah, no touching. What is it with you two? Sorry. I also found traces of an accelerant. Somebody really wanted this baby to burn.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Destroying evidence.
Abigael Scuito: Not just any evidence,Gibbs. Wait till you see what Big Daddy found. Traces of magnetic ink and a blend.
Dwayne Wilson: A blend?
Abigael Scuito: 25% cotton and 75% linen. You know what makes that blend so special? Only the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is allowed to use it.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Money.
Abigael Scuito: Technically they call it rag paper.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: It's hard to burn.
Abigael Scuito: Exactly, which explains the accelerant.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: How much did they barbecue?
Abigael Scuito: Based on the amount of trace rag paper and magnetic ink, I would say all $27,000.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Ziva David: This was a sophisticated operation that took time and money to plan.
Timothy McGee: And after all that, they burn the proceeds.
Anthony DiNozzo: Time, money, futility. Sounds like one of McGee's date nights.
Timothy McGee: It was not futility, Tony. It was by design.
Anthony DiNozzo: Where have I heard that before?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: All right, give me some theories, Ziva.
Ziva David: Maybe they could not get off the base because of the lockdown, so they destroyed all the evidence. Uh, they could have stolen a second car to get out.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: McGee.
Timothy McGee: Maybe they wanted to embarrass the FBI.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Already did that.
Timothy McGee: We could be looking for a recently paroled felon with an ax to grind.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: DiNozzo.
Anthony DiNozzo: Yeah. Why'd you call on me last, boss? I was going to say what they said, honest. I have a theory, but it's not flushed out.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Never mind. Agent Wilson.
Dwayne Wilson: I don't have a theory, sir, Agent Gibbs, but if we had access to FBI files, I'd search other unsolved robberies that knocked out security cameras.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Ziva, McGee...
Ziva David: Follow up on our theories.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: And bank security footage... Know it.
Timothy McGee: On it.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: DiNozzo.
Anthony DiNozzo: Got it... Got it, boss.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: DiNozzo, since you do not have a theory, how about you help Agent Wilson with his?
Anthony DiNozzo: Agent... Got it.
Dwayne Wilson: Where do we start?
Anthony DiNozzo: FBI... Let's go, smarty-pants.
----------
Memories
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Agent Langer.
Leon Vance: One of them is betraying their country. Langer made the jump to NCIS eight months ago from the FBI.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: He got no special treatment.
Leon Vance: But you did recommend him.
Brent Langer: Am I under investigation?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Should you be?
Brent Langer: I'd like a straight yes or no, sir.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Gibbs... Lee? It's Langer.
Leon Vance: Betraying their country.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: It's Langer.
Leon Vance: You did recommend him.
----------
NCIS: garage
FBI Agent: Sign this, please.
Anthony DiNozzo: Could you have suggested something that would require morepaperwork?
Dwayne Wilson: I thought the FBI had this kind of stuff on computer.
Anthony DiNozzo: They do.
FBI Agent: Here's your copy.
Anthony DiNozzo: They want to take the case. They're trying to paper us into submission.
Dwayne Wilson: Five years of unsolved cases.
Anthony DiNozzo: Interagency transfer. Means legal's going to be involved, which means you've been here one day and you've already broken Gibbs' rule #13.
Dwayne Wilson: Rule #13?
Anthony DiNozzo: Yeah, rule #13: Never, ever involve lawyers. Things are bound to turn nasty.
Dwayne Wilson: I'll rember that.
Anthony DiNozzo: You should... Gibbs has be divorced three times. He has seven rules that involve lawyers, none of them pretty. You don't need to know 'em all, just #13. It's the umbrella one... What?
Dwayne Wilson: How's Gibbs to work for?
Anthony DiNozzo: What have you heard? That bad guys would rather confess than be interrogated by him? That his steely gaze can cool a room by five degrees? That he can only be killed by a silver bullet, like a werewolf? They're all true, except for the silver bullet part. Might give him indigestion or heartburn,but... I don't think it'd kill him. Any other questions?
Dwayne Wilson: Just one... What's Gibbs got against me?
Anthony DiNozzo: You? Nothing.
Dwayne Wilson: Don't exactly get a welcome feeling from him.
Anthony DiNozzo: Well, he's not exactly the Mr. Rogers type.
Dwayne Wilson: I just got a gut feeling he doesn't like me.
Anthony DiNozzo: Oh, you have a gut feeling?
Dwayne Wilson: Like he's got something against me, maybe against all outsiders. Am I right?
Anthony DiNozzo: Long story to that one.
Dwayne Wilson: What's the short version?
Anthony DiNozzo: Last outsider he let in turned out to be a bad apple.
Dwayne Wilson: How bad? That bad.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Timothy McGee: Here we go... The start of a very bad day for Mr. Vittorio.
Ziva David: The start of his last day, you mean.
Timothy McGee: Kid running with ice cream.
Ziva David: Never ends well. Mom apologizes.
Timothy McGee: And Vittorio heads to the bathroom. That's it. Cameras go down.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Check the security footage the last three days.
Timothy McGee: Because?
Ziva David: Because they're pros, and pros plan. They would have watched the bank before they hit it.
----------
NCIS: Director's office
Leon Vance: Come in... Agent Lee, I need a legal opinion.
Michelle Lee: Of course.
Leon Vance: It's rather sensitive. How hard is it to terminate agents?
Michelle Lee: Terminate?
Leon Vance: Specifically new agents. This pile I'm sold on, this pile not so much.
Michelle Lee: And you want to terminate those in the "not so much" pile?
Leon Vance: I just want to know my legal options... All these agents were signed on under the old administration. Now, I'm not saying that there are not some fine people here.
Michelle Lee: But you'd prefer to be able to choose.
Leon Vance: Like I said, options.
Michelle Lee: I understand... Well, new agents are probationary.
Leon Vance: I know. Do I need cause to terminate them?
Michelle Lee: No. If you can articulate a substantive reason to terminate, that's all you need.
Leon Vance: Even before they go to FLETC?
Michelle Lee: Absolutely.
Leon Vance: That's all I need to know. Thank you.
Michelle Lee: You're welcome, sir.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Michelle Lee: Agent Gibbs, I'm so sorry, I...
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Okay.
Michelle Lee: I can be such a klutz sometimes.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: That's okay... Now you're all settled back into Legal?
Michelle Lee: Yeah, kind of. You know, I was a little shaken up for a while after what happened with Langer, but... I'm okay now... Missing the fieldwork. You know... I should get back.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Yeah. Gibbs.
----------
NCIS: Director's office
Leon Vance: I'm trying to weed out the good from the bad. I need you to do a written evaluation on Agent Wilson.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Why?
Leon Vance: He's borderline.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Why stick him with me then?
Leon Vance: He had to go somewhere... I'm going to need that evaluation.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Won't be with me long enough.
Leon Vance: Bachelor's degree from an online school only recently accredited. GPA mediocre at best. Doesn't speak a foreign language. Computer skills barely existent.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Putting your stamp on this agency, are you, Leon?
Leon Vance: Our agents should look more like McGee than they do DiNozzo.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: More like you than like me.
----------
NCIS: Autopsy room
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What have we got, Duck?
Donald Mallard: Not much. Our old friend here, Ray Vittorio, was shot at close range. Under three feet. I extracted this from what was left of the back of his head.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Hollow point.
Donald Mallard: This crew had no qualms about what they might have to do, and they came armed to do it. You're dealing with cold-blooded people, Jethro.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Oh, yeah.
Donald Mallard: And to rob a bank on a Marine secure facility, these individuals must be extremely desperate or supremely arrogant.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Or both.
Donald Mallard: Dwayne Wilson.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: He's a baby agent.
Donald Mallard: And I am looking at his personnel report because?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: It's your thing.
Donald Mallard: My thing? I take it that Agent Wilson is alive?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Oh, yeah.
Donald Mallard: So, you don't want me to do an autopsy, which leaves my other thing. Psychological profile? Aptitude tests, psychological reports, academic studies. Yes, I can work up something. Uh, may I ask why you need it?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: What kind of man is he, Duck?
Donald Mallard: Oh, surely you, of all people, don't need me to tell you that.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I appreciate it.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Timothy McGee: No. You went back too far.
Ziva David: I got it.
Timothy McGee: No, you went back too far.
Ziva David: That's why I'm going fast forward now.
Timothy McGee: All right, just let me do it. Let me do it,please, okay? You handle this like you handle your car.
Ziva David: And if you want to handle anything ever again, remove your hand from my mouse.
Timothy McGee: Boss, got something.
Ziva David: On the bank security cameras.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Put it up.
Ziva David: I am almost... There.
Timothy McGee: There it is... You passed it.
Ziva David: These controls are too sensitive.
Timothy McGee: Boss.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Ziva.
Ziva David: Fine.
Timothy McGee: All right... Three days prior to the bank robbery... Here it comes... Watch outside the bank. It's a '99 white Suburban. Then, four minutes, 23 seconds later... Same Suburban.
Ziva David: Definitely casing the bank.
Timothy McGee: Question is, why did they wait another three days before they hit it?
Ziva David: And the other question is, why did they burn the money afterwards?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Stop it right there... That's a different bank guard. That's why they burned the money.
Ziva David: Because they were not after the money.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: No, they were after Vittorio.
Timothy McGee: This was a hit.
----------
Later
Ziva David: The bank manager says Ray Vittorio was out sick three days prior to the bank robbery.
Timothy McGee: Confirms your theory, boss.
Ziva David: I do not understand. If you want someone dead, you knock on their door. They answer, you shoot them. Easy.
Timothy McGee: For some. Ziva's right, though. Why rob a bank just to kill someone?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Collateral damage.
Ziva David: So, they wanted Vittorio's death to look like collateral damage.
Timothy McGee: Murder investigation's different than a bank robbery.
Ziva David: And we've been investigating a bank robbery.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Not anymore. Ziva.
Ziva David: I will do a full background check on Ray Vittorio.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: McGee.
Timothy McGee: And I'm just checking to see if he has a criminal record... Oh, look at that. Bingo. 1978 felony conviction for handling stolen property.
Ziva David: And he was allowed to carry a gun?
Timothy McGee: Non-violent offender. Granted a restoration of rights certificate 'cause he served only two years. 30 years ago. Been clean ever since.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Or he hasn't been caught.
----------
NCIS: Garage
Anthony DiNozzo: So why an NCIS agent?
Dwayne Wilson: To protect and serve my country.
Anthony DiNozzo: Come on... Dwayne, I'm trained in the art of extracting the truth. You can't snow me.
Dwayne Wilson: I can't?
Anthony DiNozzo: No. You can't. For the travel?
Dwayne Wilson: No.
Anthony DiNozzo: The babes?
Dwayne Wilson: No.
Anthony DiNozzo: Carry a gun?
Dwayne Wilson: No.
Anthony DiNozzo: Retirement plan?
Dwayne Wilson: No.
Anthony DiNozzo: No... To make a difference? That was a placebo question.
Dwayne Wilson: Whatever you say.
Anthony DiNozzo: Are you serious?
Dwayne Wilson: I mean, make a profound difference in a man's life, like...
Anthony DiNozzo: Like what?
Dwayne Wilson: My dad was an enlisted Marine in Vietnam. Accused of murdering an officer... Said everyone made him for the murder, except one NIS agent. That agent kept investigating, even after his boss told him to stop. Ended up exonerating my dad. If not for that agent, Dad never would've married Mom, never would've had me... Dad never forgot. Told us to always include him in our prayers... I wanted to be NCIS... To make that kind of a difference.
Anthony DiNozzo: Okay, I buy that.
Dwayne Wilson: Why did you become an NCIS agent?
Anthony DiNozzo: For the guns and the babes.
Dwayne Wilson: You're kidding, right?
Anthony DiNozzo: I got something.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Anthony DiNozzo: Klaasson's Diamond Boutique in Maryland six months ago. It's a regular day, right? And then... Wait for it... There. 97 seconds later... Four million dollars in diamonds out the door.
Dwayne Wilson: None of which have turned up since the robbery.
Anthony DiNozzo: Witnesses claimed they saw two men in ski masks.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Getaway driver.
Ziva David: Makes three.
Timothy McGee: These are our guys.
Anthony DiNozzo: They're good.
Timothy McGee: And they know it.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: That's their weakness.
Ziva David: Are we back to robbery as a motive?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: That's the robbery. Vittorio's the murder... Money, commonalities, employees, relatives. You chase everything... Now! Yeah, Duck.
Donald Mallard: I have the Wilson assessment.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: On my way.
Timothy McGee: Robbery-Homicide, please. I'll hold.
Dwayne Wilson: Can I help?
Timothy McGee: Certainly can.
Ziva David: Long night.
Anthony DiNozzo: Coffee.
----------
NCIS: Autopsy room
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Finished.
Donald Mallard: You know, Jethro, the more time I spend with someone, the more accurate I can make my evaluation. Working from other people's assessments and reports is far from satisfactory. But I'll give it a shot... This agent is more street-smart than book-smart. He possesses great inner strength... He's very focused... He has a strong sense of justice that drives him. He is unrelenting to the point of obsession... We're not talking about a good agent here. We're talking about an exceptional investigator. But such dedication comes at a cost.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Married?
Donald Mallard: Married four times, divorced three.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: That's a nice try, Duck.
Donald Mallard: I'm not finished, Jethro... We're talking about a man who acts on his gut instinct. Who relies on his ability to judge people, and he's rarely wrong. As a result, he's a man who never suffers from self-doubt. Until now?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: You don't have all the answers.
Donald Mallard: You recommended that Agent Langer be brought into the agency. Now, as a result of his actions, you're having difficulty trusting your judgment about this young man. You're simply feeling vulnerable, Jethro.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Appreciate the assessment.
----------
NCIS: Squad room
Dwayne Wilson: What's that?
Timothy McGee: It is a test program to check the bank's wireless Internet connection.
Dwayne Wilson: Why?
Timothy McGee: Because I have already checked the security system.
Dwayne Wilson: Process of elimination.
Timothy McGee: That. And it's always nice to look busy when the boss walks in.
Anthony DiNozzo: Hit pay dirt, boss. The security company that was protecting Klaasson's Diamond Boutique is the same security company the bank uses in Quantico.
Ziva David: Which is owned by Paul Harris. His company is maxed-out on its credit line, and is two months in arrears on its rent.
Anthony DiNozzo: Had a bad feeling about that guy. His teeth sparkled.
Ziva David: Meaning?
Anthony DiNozzo: Meaning no one has teeth that white unless they have something to hide.
Ziva David: Maybe the bank cameras were not jammed. Maybe they were switched off from Harris' office.
Timothy McGee: Wasn't the cameras. It was the Internet connection. Take a look, boss. I was checking the bank's broadband. For the 93 seconds those cameras went down, bank's network was overloaded with three million simultaneous hits, all from a single source. It slowed down the system so much, it couldn't transmit the security footage. There are system protocols that should've prevented this kind of thing.
Anthony DiNozzo: Who better to beat the system than the guy who installed it?
----------
NCIS: Interrogation room
Anthony DiNozzo: I know a little about suits, and that one's pretty expensive, huh?
Paul Harris: You brought me here to compliment me on my suit?
Anthony DiNozzo: How do you get those teeth so white? You, uh, cap 'em? You like to use those whitening strips? How about the mouth guard with the gunky gel in it? You use one of those? How do you do it?
----------
NCIS: Observation room
Timothy McGee: Tony has his own style. Sort of Dirty Harry meets Keystone Cop.
----------
NCIS: Interrogation room
Paul Harris: You got a serious question for me, Agent DiNozzo?
Anthony DiNozzo: Yeah... How's business, Paul?
Paul Harris: It's fine.
Anthony DiNozzo: That was a big one. Lies make my ears itch. You should know that. So let me ask again. How's business, Paul?
Paul Harris: I've been going through a rough patch, actually.
Anthony DiNozzo: Yeah, that sounds like the truth. And yet, you've got the expensive clothes and the nice bright white teeth, expensive boat, super-expensive house... How do you reconcile all those things? Maybe by robbing a bank and a diamond dealer?
Paul Harris: I'm sorry. What?
Anthony DiNozzo: Klaasson's Diamond Boutique... Same MO, same security company: yours.
Paul Harris: Klaasson's was, um... Some time ago.
Anthony DiNozzo: Did you run out of money, Paul?
Paul Harris: I wasn't involved with that.
Anthony DiNozzo: Your security cameras, Paul.
Paul Harris: I don't know... How they did it. Okay?
Anthony DiNozzo: Unbearable. You're gonna push me a little bit, aren't you? We have a McGnome in our office. He never gets out. He smells like an overheated computer chip. But, boy, man alive, does he know computers, inside and out. And he explained to me that there was this network, right, and it got bombarded with all these hits, and it slowed it way down, and disabled the camera. It's kind of crazy. And he also said, protocol should have prevented it, protocols that you could've gotten around.
Paul Harris: Okay. It was a flaw in the system. All right?
Anthony DiNozzo: A flaw?
Paul Harris: I learned about it after the diamond robbery.
Anthony DiNozzo: That's convenient.
Paul Harris: Look, I'll show you my records. I-I've been... Fixing it on site. And I didn't get around to Quantico because... Come on, who robs Quantico?
Anthony DiNozzo: Without a cash influx, you're gonna be out of business in two months.
Paul Harris: I told you, I'll show you my records. You'll see, I've been fixing the problem.
Anthony DiNozzo: I'm gonna track down every move you've made in the last six months, and I'm gonna have a little chat with every person you know.
Paul Harris: Don't do that, okay?
Anthony DiNozzo: Why?
Paul Harris: 'Cause you'll ruin it.
Anthony DiNozzo: "It"?
Paul Harris: My wedding plans.
Anthony DiNozzo: You're gonna have to do better than that.
Paul Harris: They say a picture's worth a thousand words... Her name's Stella Rawlings.
Anthony DiNozzo: And?
Paul Harris: And she's heir to one of the largest wine distributorships on the East Coast... See, I don't need to rob a bank... I'm about to marry one.

NCIS: Squad room
Anthony DiNozzo: Oh, that is gonna leave a mark... Look at that... I scratched myself in the line of duty, boss. I'll live.
Ziva David: Ray Vittorio was a widower with a 28-year-old son.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: And?
Ziva David: And that son has a record, too: handling stolen property.
Anthony DiNozzo: Daddy passed the baton.
Ziva David: Except his son has dealt in higher-end items: paintings, artifacts.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Where is he?
Ziva David: Last known address was in Maryland. But his former landlord said he disappeared six months ago. I cannot track him anywhere.
Dwayne Wilson: The diamond robbery was six months ago.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: It's not a coincidence. Keep looking.

NCIS: Abby's lab
Abigael Scuito: Wait. Go back... Stop... This guy, right here, with his back to us. Zoom in on his right arm... More... Where have I seen that tattoo before?
Timothy McGee: What are you doing?
Abigael Scuito: Shh! I'm arranging my thoughts... Pull up the bank robbery footage.
Timothy McGee: Why?
Abigael Scuito: Just do it... McGee... Move... I saw this earlier. I wondered why someone would be covering up such a nice piece of artwork on a warm day. Very strange... Watch.

NCIS: Squad room
Ziva David: When we interviewed him outside the bank, tattoo man said his name was Curtis Ranier, had a driver's license to prove it.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Which was fake.
Timothy McGee: His real name is James Meyers. He's an ex con, did time for electronic theft.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: That's four bank robbers.
Ziva David: Two men in ski masks, one getaway driver, and... Him.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Known associates, McGee. Find them.
Timothy McGee: On it.
Anthony DiNozzo: There's more. Guess who his cellmate was... Joey Vittorio, the dead guard's son. Before the diamond heist, Vittorio served four years in the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown. Meyers served seven.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Doc.
Donald Mallard: Yes, sir.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Has Ray Vittorio's body been collected?
Anthony DiNozzo: Joey Vittorio is missing. Meyers and his crew killed his dad as part of the bank robbery.
Dwayne Wilson: Why?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Collateral damage. Ziva, find out when he's being buried.
Anthony DiNozzo: Because money wasn't the object. They wanted to lure Joey out of hiding. He must've been their fence. He kept the diamonds for himself, which is why they never turned up. He must've gone underground with them.
Dwayne Wilson: But he'll go to his dad's funeral...
Timothy McGee: If he thinks it has something to do with the stolen diamonds. Known associates, boss... They've all done time.
Ziva David: Gibbs, the funeral is happening now.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Let's go.
----------
Cimetery
Priest: Reception at the Parrish Hall. Thank you for your attendance.
----------
Ziva David: Ray Vittorio was a popular man.
Anthony DiNozzo: Italian, what do you expect?
Timothy McGee: The service is ending.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Let's move.
Anthony DiNozzo: Stay.
Dwayne Wilson: I'm an agent.
Anthony DiNozzo: Without a weapon. Guard the car.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Spread out. Look for Meyers and his crew.
----------
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Anybody, anything?
Anthony DiNozzo: That's a negative, boss.
Ziva David: Negative.
Timothy McGee: No.
Anthony DiNozzo: Maybe they're not here.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: They're here.
Joey Vittorio: Let go!We can talk. We can work this out!
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: On the road, black SUV, eastern side. Move it. Go! Go! Go! Go!
----------
James Meyers: Get in the car, Joey.
Joey Vittorio: Come on... Get off me.
James Meyers: Get us out of here.
Driver: He's got us blocked in.
Dwayne Wilson: Hey, Nana. Time to go.
James Meyers: Hey, buddy, move your car.
Dwayne Wilson: Sure, no problem. Just have to get my grandma here... Nana, are you ready to go?
Old Lady: Go?
James Meyers: Come on... Cops!
Dwayne Wilson: Get down.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Federal agents!
Gunshots
Leroy Jethro Gibbs: NCIS! Drop your weapons!
Gunshots
Joey Vittorio: Don't shoot! Don't shoot!
Anthony DiNozzo: Get out of the car! Put your hands on the ground.
Joey Vittorio: All right. We're coming out!
Timothy McGee: On the ground!
Joey Vittorio: Please, don't shoot.
Anthony DiNozzo: Get down on the ground.
Ziva David: Now!
Old Lady: You're not my grandson.
----------
NCIS: Lounge room
Anthony DiNozzo: For a job well done.
Dwayne Wilson: It might mean more if you paid for it.
Anthony DiNozzo: We're government employees. Get used to disappointment.
Timothy McGee: Good luck at FLETC.
Anthony DiNozzo: Yes, and a word of advice. The ATF girls are smokin' hot. They're a little crazy, but they're really hot.
Dwayne Wilson: I'm married, Tony.
Anthony DiNozzo: Then only talk to the Bureau of Prisons girls. That'll keep you celibate, unless you're like McGee.
Timothy McGee: Just don't mouth off to the instructors...
Anthony DiNozzo: Or the Bureau of Prisons Girls.
Timothy McGee: And you'll be fine.
----------
NCIS: Director's office
Leon Vance: Your assessment of Agent Wilson? You didn't write anything.
